The excavation of the Kokkuthoduvai mass grave entered its eighth day on September 14th, uncovering additional evidence crucial to the ongoing investigation.
On the eighth day of excavation, the skeletal remains of five victims were recovered, adding to the growing body of evidence. Among the discoveries were pieces of metal that are suspected remnants of weapons, as well as clothing belonging to the victims. Notably, the clothing found in the mass grave had "?-1124" sewn into them.
Since the commencement of the excavation on September 6th, a total of 14 victims' skeletal remains have been recovered

The eighth day of excavation was overseen by Magistrate Court Judge T. Pratheepan and led by Archaeological Professor Paramu Pushparatnam, Raj Somadeva, Jaffna Judicial Medical Officer S. Biranavan, and forensic investigators from the Police Department. Their collaborative efforts continue to provide essential information for the investigation.
Attorney-at-Law V. K. Niranjan announced that the ninth day of excavation is scheduled to take place on September 15th, as the team remains committed to unearthing further evidence and uncovering the truth behind this mass grave.
