A Tamil father who has spent more than a decade searching for his forcibly disappeared son passed away in Vavuniya today, without ever knowing the fate of his child.
Sinnachami Nallathambi was aged 71-years-old and just days ago had taken part in a protest marking 1,200 days of continuous demonstrations by Tamil families of the disappeared in Vavuniya.

His son had been abducted by unidentified men in front of the Vavuniya court in 2008. Nallathambi has been campaigning to find his whereabouts ever since, and joined other relatives of the disappeared in their demonstrations.
Dozens of Tamil campaigners have now died during the course of their protest, with demonstrations taking place across the North-East. None of them have received any answers as to the whereabouts of their forcibly disappeared loved ones and no one has been held accountable for the crimes.
