Families of the disappeared in Vavuniya marked Tamil Genocide Day, laying flowers and candles in memory of the Tamils massacred in Mullivaikkal.
The secretary of the Vavuniya Families of the Disappeared K. Rajkumar slammed the bans on public Mullivaikkal commemorations, stating they went against basic social and international norms.
“Where else in the world would courts ban people from remembering their own family members?" he asked.
