"The month of Kaarthikai (mid-November to mid-December) is a sacred month to the Tamils. The Tamil nation was forced to take up arms due to the failure to find a solution to the Tamil national question and the military repression," he explained.

"The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was as an organisation accepted by all Tamils," the ITAK leader added.

"Maaveerar Naal is respected as the day of remembrance for those who took part in this conflict and sacrificed their lives for the Tamil nation. Those who respect the Maaveerar can go to the Thuyilum Illam and honour the Maaveerar."
