Myanmar's defacto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi remained silent on the allegations of human rights violations and mass atrocities committed by the military today in her public address, whilst making a blanket statement condemning "all" human rights violations.
“We condemn all human rights violations and unlawful violence. We are committed to the restoration of peace and stability and rule of law throughout the state,” she said, reported Reuters.
“Action will be taken against all people, regardless of their religion, race and political position, who go against the law of the land and violate human rights,” she added.
Human rights organisations have criticised her refusal to openly acknowledge the military's role and said her speech was “little more than a mix of untruths and victim-blaming”.
