Members of the Northern Provincial Council adorned Gloriosa Lilies (Kaathikai Poo) and planted trees earlier this month ahead of Tamil National Remembrance Day on November 27.
Since the end of the armed conflict, the planting of trees in November has become a form of commemoration of those who died fighting for the Tamil struggle.
This year, the first tree planting event was held in Mannar. Events have been organised by the NPC's agriculture ministry.
