Remembering Captain Pandithar 39 years on

The 39th anniversary commemoration of Sinnathurai Raveenthiran, popularly known as Captain Pandithar, a prominent commander in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), took place at his residence in Valvettithurai, Jaffna on Tuesday.

Captain Pandithar, a senior member of the LTTE who served in its political wing, was killed by the Sri Lankan army in 1985 near Avarangal, Jaffna. To honor his memory, garlands were placed on Pandithar's portrait, and a symbolic flame was lit, followed by floral tributes.

The memorial event was attended by Pandithar's mother, family members, and notable figures such as former Chief Minister of Jaffna Municipal Council, Advocate Vishwalingam Manivannan, and former member of Jaffna Municipal Council, Varadarajan Partheepan.

They paid their respects to the fallen LTTE commander, reflecting on his contribution and sacrifice in the pursuit of the liberation of Tamil Eelam.
