Sri Lanka co-hosts air force exercise with United States

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) is co-hosting the Pacific Airlift Rally 2017, a military exercise currently underway on the island, alongside the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), a Major Command of the United States Air Force.

“The event is a command post and flying training exercise with a focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations,” reported the US military.

As part of the exercise, Sri Lankan troops had lectures and inspected US aircraft.

Sri Lankan paratroopers were also scheduled to jump from a USAF C-130 over Amparai.

Sri Lanka is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist. Tamil journalists are particularly at threat, with at least 41 media workers known to have been killed by the Sri Lankan state or its paramilitaries during and after the armed conflict.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
