Police have agreed to release a Jaffna school's building and well following pressure from the Northern Provincial Council.
The Northern Province's Senior Superintendent for Police has assured the Chief Minister that a classroom building and drinking water well belonging to Kankesanthurai Nadeshvara College would be released immediately.
Nadeshvara College was released two years ago, after 27 years of army occupation. However KKS police kept one classroom building and the well under their control.
The Northern Provincial Council passed a resolution calling for the release of eight schools currently under army occupation in the Vali North high security zone, and also included a call for Nadeshvara College's occupied facilities to be released.
In a meeting between C. V. Wigneswaran - the Chief Minister of the Northern Province - and police officials, the superintendent said the police were willing to release Nadeshvara College's facilities the very same day.
