Sri Lankan soldiers have reportedly opened fire at a petrol station in Mullaitivu.
At least two Tamils are reported to have been injured at Visvamadu petrol station, after shots were fired.
Troops reportedly attacked locals who had spent hours queuing for fuel. The attack began after locals began complaining at how soldiers manning the petrol station were seen giving some vehicles preferential access to the petrol, which has been in short supply across the island.
At least three Tamil youth are also reported to have been detained by the army.
People have been queuing outside petrol stations across the island as Sri Lanka continues to face its worst economic crisis in decades. Fuel in particular remains in short supply, with only a few days of stock left according to senior government sources.
