Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has requested for the IMF staff-level agreement to be urgently finalised as the economic crisis continues to ravage the island.
On late Tuesday Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met with Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, to discuss the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
According to Wickremesinghe's office, Georgeiva has expressed her willingness to aid Sri Lanka during it's crisis.
During the meeting Wickremesinghe called for 'the staff level delegation from the IMF to visit Sri Lanka as soon as possible so that the staff level agreement can be finalized."
Negotiations in relation to bridge financing are dependent upon both the IMF and Sri Lanka concluding a staff-level agreement.
Commentators have called for stringent conditions to be attached to the bailout which tackle the militarised nature of the state.
