Tamil families of the disappeared who have been demanding information on the whereabouts of her loved ones, held a rally in Batticaloa this month, marking more than two years since they began their protest.
The rally, held in Gandhi Park, saw relatives of the forcibly disappeared gather, chanting slogans and holding placards drawing attention to their struggle. Placards held by the family criticised the Sri Lankan government’s Office of Missing Persons (OMP), denounced the Sinhala Buddhist nature of the state and called for an international inquiry into the fate of the disappeared.
The protest in Batticaloa comes as other Tamil families across the North-East held similar rallies across the region this month.
