Tamil students ‘threatened and forced to pray’ at Buddhist temple in Kilinochchi

Tamil National People's Front MP Selvarajah Kajendren told Sri Lanka’s parliament that Tamil university students were threatened and forced to pray at the Buddhist temple in the faculty of Engineering in Kilinochchi.

Speaking in parliament, the lawmaker spoke on the incident and called for those responsible to be held accountable.

The incident reportedly occurred at Jaffna University’s Killinochchi Campus, where a Buddhist temple was hurriedly constructed with the support of donors and other Buddhist monks from the South in 2020.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
