A young Tamil man was assaulted by army soldiers in the Alangulam, Eruvil area and has been hospitalised at the District General Hospital in Killinochchi following his extensive injuries from the attack.
20-year-old Rasarathnam Thanusan from Ponnagar, Manthai was stopped and attacked by army soldiers when he went to shepherd goats in the forest area within the Thunukkai police division jurisdiction, on Wednesday.
While he was attempting to go home to inform his relatives of the attack, he was further brutally assaulted. Thanusan’s mobile phone had been confiscated and he was handed over to the forest department officers at around 7pm on Wednesday.
Thanusan was transferred from the Base Hospital in Mulankavil to the District General Hospital in Killinochchi as he had suffered a bone fracture from the injuries.
Relatives have also lodged a complaint at the Thunukkai police station claiming the goats are missing.
