While calls for demilitarisation and protests for the release of military-occupied land continue across the Tamil homeland, the Chief of the Nepalese Army paid a visit to the Sri Lankan Army's Security Force Headquarters in Mullaitivu on Saturday.
Mullaitivu is the most heavily militarised district on the island, with a report last year estimating troop presence to be as high as one soldier to every two civilians.
The Mullaitivu headquarters in Keppapulavu has been the location of an ongoing protest from residents demanding their land back. The army has been offered in excess of 150 million rupees to vacate the area.
