A military delegation from Nigeria was taken on a tour of Jaffna earlier this year, where they held discussions with Sri Lankan security forces stationed in the peninsula.
During their visit, the delegation met with female soldiers serving the 7 Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC).
According to an official Sri Lankan military website,
The Nigerian delegation, aimed exclusively at learning modalities for founding of a Women's Corps also expressed their overwhelming willingness to share each other’s experiences in their efforts to reach the objective and Sri Lanka's battlefield gains.
Nigerian military officials have visited Sri Lanka several times since the armed conflict ended on the island, with previous reports that it is considering using Sri Lanka’s military strategy that was used against Tamils, in its war against Boko Haram.
The visit comes as Amnesty International released a report last month, documenting alleged war crimes committed by Nigeria’s military.
