A Sri Lankan government minister met with a senior Buddhist monk today, to brief the clergy on the process to draft a new constitution for the island.
Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka briefed the Chief Prelates and told them that “misleading information” was being spread according to Colombo Gazette.
The process to draft a new constitution has seen fierce resistance from the Buddhist clergy and Southern politicians, particularly to attempts to introduce federalism and devolution of powers to Tamil regions.
