Opposition campaigner Fawaz Tello told Reuters,
"The ceasefire is practically over. Damascus has been under brutal air raids since day one and hundreds of people have been arrested”.His comments come as the Syrian military released a statement, blaming the violence on “terrorists” who want to "fragment and destroy Syria", stating,
"These terrorist groups must be confronted, their remnants chased and an iron fist used to exterminate them and save the homeland from their evil".Meanwhile there were also reports of clashes between rebel fighters and members of the Syrian branch of the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in Ashrafieh. A co-ordinator for the Syrian Rebel Front accused the PKK of helping Syrian government forces in defending a compound, but noted,
"The Ashrafieh incident has to be contained because it could extend to other areas in the northeast where the PKK is well organised".
