Vavuniya protestors call for release of Tamil political prisoners

Protestors in Vavuniya called on Monday for the unconditional release of Tamil political prisoners.

In a rally held outside the Vavuniya central bus stand, the protestors also called for the government to address the hunger-striking political prisoners who are having their cases moved from the district's high court to Anuradhapuram.

Protestors carried placards and shouted slogans demanding the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and justice for political prisoners that had been killed in custody. A similar protest was also held in Jaffna at the same time.
