An exhibition organised by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils (APPGT) and the British Tamil Forum (BTF) was well attended by several MPs and peers.

Various displays and presentations detailed the genocide to visitors at the exhibition held in Portcullis House, a parliamentary building near the Houses of Parliament.

Eye-witnesses from the last stages of the military conflict shared their experiences with the many visitors.

The chairman of the APPGT, Lee Scott, Conservative MP for Ilford North, pledged to continue to fight for justice for the Eezham Tamils, with many other parliament officials supporting the exhibition and calls for an international, independent inquiry.

"We must stop the genocide of the Tamils. The world must stop the barbarism of the Sri Lankan regimen" said Robert Halfon, Conservative MP for Harlow.

Heidi Alexander, Labour MP for Lewisham East added "The need for international independent investigation into the crimes and atrocities that have taken place in Sri Lanka is clear from your exhibition and the UK has a responsibility to act to make this happen.”

Sri Lanka is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist. Tamil journalists are particularly at threat, with at least 41 media workers known to have been killed by the Sri Lankan state or its paramilitaries during and after the armed conflict.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
