The Sri Lankan army took a group of Tamil pre-school children on a tour of Palaly Airport last month, in an area restricted to civilians deep inside a Sri Lankan High Security Zone (HSZ).
Sri Lankan troops took the children on a tour of the military base at Palaly, as well as showcasing air force planes.
The Palaly area remains off-limits to civilians, with the military continuing to occupy huge swathes of land. Though the Sri Lankan army has refused to return the occupied land, it continues to showcase its military base to Tamil school children, with several similar tours having taken place this year.
The Sri Lankan military is already extensively involved in pre-schools in the North-East, having hired hundreds of teachers and increasing their presence in schools.
