3rd August to 9th August Occupation Watch  

Commander of Security force Wanni Major General J.P.C. Peris RWP RSP ndc visited the home of the Bishop of Mannar Reverend Dr. Fidelis Lionel Emmanuel Fernando on the 3rd of August. Subsequently he attended the Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu, where he met with Reverend Father P. Gnanpragasam of Madu Church. The commander discussed the upcoming Madhu Feast, and security measures concerning the event. 

 

On the 3rd of August, an award ceremony was held at the Kokkadicholai Cultural Center. The event was held following a 7 month Sinhala language course attended by 115 Tamil students from Ramakrishna Vidyalaya and Mudalikuda Maha Vidyalaya in Batticaloa. The course was organised by organized by the Security Force Headquarters (East). 

 

On the 4th of August, Acurity Forces – Wanni distributed 6392 cinnamon saplings among 34 villagers. This event took place as part of the Cinnamon cultivation programme at Parasankulam. Security forced Wanni desire a spread of cultivation to the North of the Vavuniya region. 

 

On the 8th of August, the post of Acting Flag Officer commanding Naval Fleet was filled by Commodore Sanjeewa Perera, at his office in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee. 

 

The 13 year anniversary of the SLAF Station Iranamadu was celebrated on the 3rd of August. There was a working parade, tree planting, cricket and football matches on the day. An all ranks lunch was served.

The children of Maran Preschool in Kollavillankulam were served lunch by 10 SLLI (10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry on the 31st of July under the instruction of General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc.
