The leader of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) condemning Turkish airstrikes on PKK bases accused the government of supporting Islamic State militants.
Cemil Baylik told the BBC that Turkish attacks against PKK forces would allow Islamic State militants to make gains. Mr Bayik added that he believed Turkish President Recap Tayyip Erdogan wanted Islamic State militants to succeed in preventing Kurdish territorial gains.
A longstanding ceasefire between the PKK and Turkey seemed to collapse as Turkey bombed PKK camps in Northern Iraq whilst also conducting airstrikes at Islamic State militants.
Kurdish fighters , including the PKK, have been very important in securing significant victories against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria. Turkey and other nations consider the PKK as a terrorist organization.
