Plays to remember the final stages of the war were performed to the crowds, as they stood in remembrance despite the temperamental British weather.
MPs from the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils (APPG-T) addressed the event, including the Chair MP James Berry, MP West Streeting and MP Bob Blackman.

Questioning the new president’s progress on accountability and reconciliation in Sri Lanka, Mr Berry said,
“Though President Sirisena has promised much, he as delivered next to nothing.”
All the MPs reiterated the importance of genuine accountability. Stressing that Sri Lanka could not deliver genuine accountability, Mr Blackman said,
“My view is that people that committed war crimes must answer for them, not in Sri Lanka, but in an international court such as the Hague to see genuine justice. People must wake up to the fact that the Tamil people faced genocide.”
Wes Streeting reiterated the need to push the UK government to guarantee that the UNRHC resolution is fully implemented, adding,
“There can be no hiding place for crimes that can only be perceived as genocide.”
