Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) has issued a statement welcoming Fatou Bensouda, the ICC Chief Prosecutor, report which recognised Palestinian statehood with respects to transferring criminal jurisdiction over its territory to the Hague.

The territory under its jurisdiction includes East Jerusalem which is currently threatened by annexation with respects to the US Middle East plan.

The recognition of a right of jurisdiction granted to the state of Palestine may lead to inquiries into alleged war crimes which took place in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. Such an investigation has the backing of over 180 human rights bodies.

With respects to the report the PLO stated:

“We trust that the facts of this issue will prevail and that the long-awaited investigation into war crimes committed in the territory of the State of Palestine will soon be launched”.
