Remembrance services were held across the North-East today to mark two years since the Easter Sunday attacks that killed 279 people and injured over 500 others.
A series of explosions targetted churches and luxury hotels in Colombo and Batticaloa. Hotels hit by explosions include the Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand hotels and one other, all in Colombo. The three churches struck were the Catholic Shrine of St. Anthony in Kotahena, Colombo, the Catholic Church of St. Sebastian in Negombo and the Zion Church in Batticaloa. At least 45 foreign nationals were amongst the dead.

Remembrance services were held in Mannar, Jaffna and Vavuniya.
Mannar
Flowers were laid and candles were lit in memory of those who were killed in the attacks.
Jaffna
Tributes were also paid to the victims of the attacks at Marianne Church in Jaffna this morning.
Vavuniya
Special poojas were held at Karumari Amman temple this morning, to remember those who lost their lives.
Prayers were also held at St Anthony's Church in Vavuniya.
